EPA Declared $100,000 Environmental Justice Grants In Great Lakes Region
January 5th, 2012 | Posted by in Organic EventsThe U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced four environmental justice grants totaling $100,000 to non-profit and tribal organizations in the Great Lakes region. These grants will help to conduct research, provide education and solutions to pollution caused issues. There are actually four environmental justice grants of each $25,000 totalling $100,000 in four regions of Great Lakes namely Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin.
The grants will help improve wells and septic systems in the Red Lake region, Improving Kids' Environment in Indiana, Preventing and treating issues with bed bug infestations in Ohio, Social Development Commission in Wisconsin and many more other environmental projects. EPA also announced it is seeking applicants for $1 million in environmental justice small grants expected to be awarded in 2012. Nationwide, EPA awarded more than $1 million in grants in 2011 to 46 non-profit and tribal organizations working on environmental justice issues.
