April 23rd, 2012 | Posted by in Organic Farming | Organic GardeningSpider mites are considered one of the greatest gardener's foe, as it cause serious nuisance outdoors and on houseplants. These pests are difficult to observe until plant injury occurs. Some of the signs of Spider mites infection are webbing, white or yellow speckles on leaves and defoliation occurs in severe cases. Firstly, identify the spider mite, then attach a spray nozzle on the hose and direct a high-pressure stream of water on the undersides of leaves. Remove heavily infested leaves. Spray leaves with a solution of rosemary oil or rosemary oil-based pesticide. Spray a soap solution on plant leaves and apply to the foliage, especially the undersides of the leaves. Eradicate using beneficial predators, which does not cause harm to the plants. Always keep your plants healthy and fresh so that no pest may attack them.
