Researchers at University of North Dakota are developing a process to convert the coffee processing plant's waste into green energy. They are developing gasification power system powered by coffee residue is association with Vermont based Wynntryst LLC and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.
EERC is trying to convert hodgepodge mixture into syngas, which can be used as an internal combustion engine, biofuels or chemicals. The result has been fruitful, as the research center has developed a coffee powered car, which broke the World Record. The results of pilot scale test will help develop commercial demonstration system for multiple Green mountain sites
