Local Vs. Organic Produce: Which Is Better?
June 8th, 2012 | Posted by in Organic HealthLocally grown and organic crops both offer benefits for your family and the environment. Organic crops are cultivated free of synthetic chemicals and raise healthy fruits and vegetables. Organic crops contain more vitamin C and nutrients such as iron, magnesium and phosphorus than conventionally raised crops. Locally grown crops reach market faster leading to fresher vegetables and fruit for your meals. Buying from local farmers keeps dollars circulating among local businesses, which may even create jobs for unemployed youth. Ask the growers about their operations and find out if they are growing organically. Organic crops are healthier while local crops are fresher.
