For every dollar that you spend, only 16 cents go to the farmer. Therefore, the first thing you can do is to buy directly from farmers. There are many different through which you can buy directly from farmers. Start by purchasing foods from local sources and farmer's markets. Provide capital to farmers by purchasing shares in community supported agricultural programs. Show preference for farm raised organic meats and buy meats in bulk that you can store or freeze for future use. Try to support as many farm to table initiatives as you can. Also, opt for organic food delivery services.
